Limiting Your Abilities Based On Narrow Perceptions

In the semiotic theories of Jakob von Uexküll and Thomas A. Sebeok, the "Umwelt" (from the German word translating to "environment" or "surroundings") are the environmental signals a life form is capable of detecting within it's ecosystem. For example for a) a tick navigates via the changes of temperature and odour b) the black night ghost fish`navigates via electrical fields c) the bat flies via air compression waves. So they are not aware of the larger reality of perception or senses, referred to by Uexküll and Sebeok as the " Umgebung". We may assume that our detection and perceptions are the entirety of our reality. A good example was in the hit film "The Truman Show" , where the character Truman lives in a world completely constructed around him by a TV producer. At one point the producer is asked . "Why do you think Truman has never come close to discovering the true nature of the world he lives in? he replies "We accept the reality with the world we are presented with". Many animals sensory perceptions are far greater than that of the average human, yet if we can perceive a larger reality outside our own perception or senses, we would understand we are capable of far beyond than what we credit ourselves of our own perceived limited abilities. First we must become aware of our limited perceptions, instead of being oblivious to whats going on, functioning simply on auto pilot. Then we must endeavour to expand our capabilities with all our senses if we are to develop a greater sense of our possible realities.Ask yourself are you content to continue life blindly following the cultural protocol and norms of your society or do you want to increase your abilities and change your perceptions forever. .
