Chakra Centres

Chakras are energetic spinning wheels of light, which reside in the spiritual body. Each chakra represents a different emotional layer. When you have thoughts and feelings which are negative they can get stored inside of your spiritual body and chakras. This can lead to various illnesses, body aches or feelings of depression and anxiety. The best way to clear your chakras is to meditate and visualize cleansing your chakras or get an energy healing session.

Within our chakras, there are contained vast amounts of energy and information. Chakras are energy centres. They function like receivers and transformers of the various forms of prahna. Through the nadis, the chakras take in the vital energy and transform it into the frequencies needed by the various areas of the physical bodies for sustenance and development.

As a chakra reader and healer I tune into a client's chakras. This helps the individual understand where their blocks are, so they can let go of them more easily. During my healing sessions, I’ve started to notice many similarities between each client and their chakras.

There are ten major Chakra Centers located directly above below and within the physical body, plus more recently activated twelve chakras centres located around the magnetic sphere surrounding the body. We will concentrate on the main ten chakra centres in this article.

This is why I wanted to write an article about the main ten chakras and what each of them signify. This information can help on your journey to heal the parts of you that are out of alignment.

Crown Chakra

The crown chakra sits three to four inches above the head. This chakra is the door to the universe. What does this mean? Your crown chakra is the bridge to your higher power. So if you’re someone who talks to your higher power on a regular basis through prayer, meditation, and regular day to day activities. Your crown chakra remains very open.

If you are someone who rarely talks to your higher power, your crown chakra could be quite closed depending on how much faith you have. It’s so important to have a daily communication with your higher power as it opens your crown chakra so you feel more blissful and happy.

Below are some things you can do to open up your crown chakra:-

Visualize a purple spinning opened lotus petal above your head. Meditate with an amethyst crystal. Smell frankincense essential oil.

Third Eye - Pineal Gland

The third eye is one of those chakras that can get blocked very easily if you’re someone who doesn’t turn off your mind. It sits right in between your eyebrows within the centre of your brain, known as the Pineal Gland.

The pineal gland is cone shaped and is located in the middle of the brain The pineal gland contains pigment similar to that found in the eyes and is connected to the optic thalami, hence it controls the action of light upon our body. The pineal gland is located in the posterior end of the third ventricle of the brain.

If you have thoughts which are scattered and/or negative your third eye is most likely clogged. Feelings of unclarity, depression, heaviness, and tiredness are good indicators that your third eye is not spinning as it should. One way to get the energy to flow to your third eye is to start meditating. This can be difficult, as when you first start meditating you will have many thoughts come up. Getting an energy healing treatment is another way to help your third eye, so you can feel more happiness and clarity in your life.

Third Eye - Pituitary Gland

The pituitary gland is about the size of a pea and is located behind the centre of our forehead, between our eyes. The pituitary gland is known as the master gland because it acts as a main control centre that sends messages to all the other glands from its two lobes, the posterior and the anterior. The pituitary gland prompts the proper growth of glands and organs and regulates sexual development.

The pituitary gland is called the “seat of the mind” with the frontal lobe regulating emotional thoughts such as poetry and music, and the anterior lobe regulating concrete thought and intellectual concepts.

On the other hand, the pineal gland is known as the “seat of illumination, intuition and cosmic consciousness”. The pineal gland is to the pituitary gland what intuition is to reason.

Below are some things you can do to open up your third eye chakra:-

Meditate regularly. Visualise a dark blue spinning opened lotus petal at your third eye. Place your hands as though you are holding a pole between 1) right and left of your temples 2) behind your skull and in front of your forehead 3) above and below your head 4) at 45 degrees from the top of your head and your chin. At each step visualise the positive / negative connection between them directly through your third eye. This acts as a catalyst to enhance your third eye.

Throat Chakra

The throat chakra represents your emotional state, your ability to communicate effectively in a spiritually enlightened manner. Suppression of emotions often get stuck in the throat chakra. When people don’t express how they’re feeling, creating a denser energy held in the throat area. People who have a blocked throat chakra are often sick with mucus in there nose and throat. This is why it’s so important to speak your truth.

Gossiping and complaining too much can also block the throat chakra. The best thing to do if something is upsetting you is to write it down or express it verbally in a calm and assured manner. When we suppress our emotions, this is when our throat becomes tight and restricted not allowing the energy to flow.

Below are some things you can do to open up your throat chakra:

Visualise a blue spinning opened lotus petal in your throat. Write down and /or express the way you are feeling. Dabble lavender essential oil on your throat.

Heart Chakra

Anger, resentment, sadness and hurt are emotions of the heart chakra. When we hold onto anger towards someone and refuse to forgive them, we build resentment that in turn surrounds our heart chakra. Think of it like a protective wall that covers our heart to protect us from being hurt. When we have a wall up we are not able to be open and become vulnerable.

Another good way to tell if your heart chakra is blocked is if you feel a lot of anger and rage. Anger is just built up hurt wanting to express itself. When you allow energy to flow to the heart chakra, you will feel more happiness, peace and unconditional love.

Below are some things you can do to open up your heart chakra:-

Visualise a green spinning opened lotus petal within your heart. Hug someone. Speak from the heart. Go into nature. Do a gratefulness meditation opening your heart. Visualise the dark inner space of your heart and light it up with a candle flicker till your whole heart glows with light.

Solar Plexus Chakra

The solar plexus chakra sits two inches above the navel and can store many emotions. One of them in particular is the feeling of shame. When we feel ashamed of ourselves, this is when our solar plexus gets blocked. The solar plexus chakra is our power center and can give us energy. You want to think of your solar plexus like the sun. Sometimes the sun doesn’t shine, but it’s always there behind the clouds even if you don’t see it.

People with a blocked solar plexus will often find it hard to have discipline and willpower. They don’t believe in themselves and they will quit easily. Another emotion that gets stored inside the solar plexus is unworthiness. Many people with a blocked solar plexus chakra feel like they’re not worthy of receiving love and happiness.

Below are some things you can do to open up your solar plexus chakra:-

Visualise a yellow spinning opened lotus petal two inches above your navel. Hold a yellow jasper stone. Exercise and focus on your abs. Visualise you solar plexis like a sun which warms your whole body and spirit.

Sacral Chakra

The sacral chakra is three inches below the navel. For females it resides within a womb. Guilt is the main negative emotion of the sacral chakra. Do you often say yes to things when you don’t want to because you feel bad? Do you ever feel guilty about eating foods that are not necessarily healthy for you? This dense energy gets stored in your sacral chakra which can deplete your energy and vitality.

Often people who have been abused in childhood or adolescence have a blocked sacral chakra due to feelings of guilt and shame around the incident. Doing a release session or an inner child healing is a great way to release negative energy stored in this chakra.

Another way to unblock your sacral chakra is to enjoy all the pleasures that life has to offer.

Connecting to your creative power is another way to help get this chakra moving.

The sacral chakra is also the portal to your prahna energy. By visualising and enhancing your prahna extending from your sacral chakra throughout your body and beyond. It is where your centrifugal balance lies. Whenever you exercise or meditate this visualisation will immediately create a complete sense of balance and inner strength within your body. You become "in the zone" as it were. You are creating your own mind body spirit coordination.

Below are some things you can do to open up your sacral chakra:

Visualise an orange spinning opened lotus petal three inches below your navel. Ask yourself the question: How can I enjoy life more today. Go exercise you really enjoy like swimming, dancing, cycling etc. Visualize the prahna energy flowing from your sacral chakra throughout your body and beyond to your outer magnetic sphere. Smell wild orange essential oil.

Root Chakra

The root chakra is directly below the genital area. It can get clogged easily if you are one to worry about the past and future. Having fearful and anxious thoughts can easily block your root chakra. When fear rules your life you feel unstable and wobbly. Releasing fearful thoughts is important when trying to clear your root chakra. Having resentment towards family members also blocks the root chakra.

Sexual and survival needs are integral to the root chakra. Any inhibitions relating to your sexuality and/or essential survival needs (food, shelter, warmth etc.) will block your root chakra. People with an open root chakra have a strong sense of identity and integrity.

Below are some things you can do to open up your root chakra:-

Foot Chakra

The foot chakra is located at between ankles. Ever felt any of the following? Vague, disconnected and disoriented. Spaced out, especially when doing meditation or other forms of spiritual connection. Full of ideas but either can’t make a decision or can’t follow anything through from concept to completion. Feel like you are exhausted even after a good night’s sleep. Slow to heal. Can’t seem to work out who you are or what you want. All these are symptoms of imbalance within your foot chakra.

In essence your feet are pivotal to your complete sense of balance. If you walk in a balanced and natural way, then obviously this will assist you to be balanced holistically throughout your body.

Wear appropriate well fitting footwear. Sense the base of your feet touching the ground. Take a large tub of warm water and place a number of smooth stones or tumbled crystals in the bottom. Place your bare feet in the water and roll your feet over the stones until they feel energised.

Get a reflexology massage.

Auric Chakra

The auric chakra is situated below the feet. It is the realm of unlimited probability. It is your connector to Mother Earth. It vibrates in tune with Mother Earth's own vibration, also known as the Schumann Resonance. This is your portal and connector with Mother Earth.

Below are some things you can do to open up your auric chakra:-

Allow the divine energy to envelope you, visualizing pure white light flowing from source into your crown chakra and out of your auric chakra, journeying through all your chakras. Then surround your outer sphere with the pure white light from below, back up to your crown chakra, creating a torial vortex sphere of ever flowing light energy surrounding and entering your spiritual and physical body.
