Let there be magic! Let there be love & light! Abracadabra.

Abracadabra is of unknown origin, and its first occurrence is in the second century works of Serenus Sammonicus, according to the Oxford English Dictionary.Several folk etymologies are associated with the word: from phrases in Hebrew that mean "I will create as I speak", or Aramaic "I create like the word", to folk etymologies that point to similar words in Latin and Greek such as abraxas. Other theories suggest the origins of the word stem from the word “abraxas,” whose letters in Greek numerology add up to 365 (number of days in the year).

The famous Abraxas Talisman or Gem normally shows a man’s body with the head of a cock, one arm with a shield, and the other with a whip. It was engraved on many antique gemstones, called on that account, Abraxas stones which were used as amulets or charms during the second and third centuries.

Abraxas, also spelled Abrasax, sequence of Greek letters considered as a word and formerly inscribed on charms, amulets, and gems in the belief that it possessed magical qualities. In the 2nd century AD, some Gnostic and other dualistic sects, which viewed matter as evil and the spirit as good and held that salvation came through esoteric knowledge, or gnosis, personified Abraxas and initiated a cult sometimes related to worship of the sun god. Basilides of Egypt, an early 2nd-century Gnostic teacher, viewed Abraxas as the supreme deity and the source of divine emanations, the ruler of all the 365 heavens, or circles of creation—one for each day of the year. The number 365 corresponds to the numerical value of the seven Greek letters that form the word abraxas.

Short History

Famed English occultist Aleister Crowley decided to take his own stab at appropriating the magical word. He reconstructed abracadabra through a kabbalistic reformulation as abrahadabra in his work, The Book of the Law, which outlined the basic principles of his new religion, Thelema. Crowley, described his abrahadabra as "the Word of the Aeon, which signifies The Great Work accomplished. He also wrote, It means by translation Abraha Dabra, the Voice of the Chief Seer.

Crowley's translation of abracadabra may seem a bit dubious both in accuracy and his own underlying sanity...But Aleister Crowley regarded it as possessing great power; he said its true form is abrahadabra.

Here's an idea for you dear followers. As mentioned Abracadabra is just a word which in the past was acknowledged to have immense power. Let's not forget it's a word. Is it not?

•I: “I” is the authority to evoke (i.e. call forth) and attract the ESSENCE of That which you envision. When you say “I” … with awareness… you embody your “I AM” presence. You attune within your Divine nature – the inspirited, empowered, transcendental YOU. In this Supreme State you live integrally in sacred union. LOVE flows through you as natural action. This is the true meaning of yoga: Supreme and human consciousness are awake, alive, activated in ONENESS within you now. You embody the power of “I AM” through clear awareness, intent, declaration, and non-attachment.

•CREATE: “Create” is your power to focus your imagination and thought into purposeful action (again… with no attachment). It is your ability to bring forth order from chaos. Although the word chaos has connotations of disorder and confusion, it originally meant “formless or void.” According to Greek mythology and the big bang theorists, our entire Universe was birthed from “chaos,” the great wide-open void of infinite potentialities. The story of Genesis says, “In the beginning when God created the heavens and the earth, the earth was a formless void.” Therefore, “chaos” is really that which precedes creation. It is the potential from which you consciously create the Essence of your highest imaginings.

When you say “I create,” you own your power to summon order from chaos, in any situation.

•SPEAK: “Speak” is your Supreme Influence In Action. It’s how you consciously direct your thoughts, language, and actions to produce desired results. When you “speak” you translate the pictures, sounds, and feelings in your mind’s eye (your imaginings) into manifest reality. “Speak” embodies the fullness of your communication, including what you declare (both aloud and to yourself), your body language, your expressions, your written word, your actions, and your energetic intent. You speak in many ways – through words, a look, a gesture, a touch, a breath, a posture, a gift, a sound, a facial expression, a mood, a note, and so much more.
