What Is Astrotheology?

What Is Astrotheology?

The word Astrotheology comes from the Greek word astron, which means “star,” and the word theology, which means “the study of God.” Since ancient times, man has worshiped deities associated with the heavenly bodies—the stars, moon, and sun.

This practise is called “astrolatry.”. Astrolatry is usually polytheistic, while Astrotheology allows for monotheism. The term Astrotheology is more specifically applied to a religious system based on the observation of the heavens.

The Mosaic Law (The Law Of Moses)

Astrolatry and star-worship was very common in ancient times, however, it was forbidden under the Mosaic Law or "The Law of Moses" In Hebrew: תֹּורַת מֹשֶׁה‬, Torat Moshe, refers primarily to the Torah or first five books of the Hebrew Bible. Traditionally believed to have been written by Moses, most academics now believe they had many authors. The first and second of the Ten Commandments, within "The Law of Moses", address idolatry in general, including the worship of images of celestial bodies: “You shall have no other gods before me. You shall not make for yourself an image in the form of anything in heaven above” (Exodus 20:3–4; cf. Deuteronomy 4:19; :

Main Conceptual Differences Between The Holy Scriptures and Astrotheology

In the Bible, theology looks up at the stars, moon, and sun; sees proof of God’s glory; and worships Him for what He has made (Psalm 19:1) Whilst astrolatry worships the creation as a symbol of God . Astrotheology implies that the gospels tie to ancient god myths, mystery religions and universal laws. For example|: Jesus Christ, instead of being God’s SON, is actually God’s SUN. God is the sun which provides the light of day and warmth and growing food, is good. The Devil, a symbol of evil, is the darkness of the night The story of Jesus Christ is the story of man’s relationship with the sun and the seasons. Jesus is the light of the world (e.g., John 8:12) is really referring to the physical sun Christ's twelve apostles represent the twelve months of the year The four Gospels represent the four seasons Astrotheology also attempts to show that the mythologies of ancient gods such as Osiris, Horus, Adonis, and Mithras were also based on seasonal cycles, and that the story of Jesus Christ is just a retelling of those ancient tales. Critics of Astrotheology and similar beliefs claim it dismisses the evidence for the historical Jesus Christ, and that any so-called parallels between the Gospels and the mythical religions are invalid; and the accounts of historical Jesus are unique and do not match the stories of the pagan gods.

The Creation Of The World In Astrothology

The simple story of creation begins at midnight, when the Sun has reached the lowest point in the arc - Capricorn. In winter time all nature is in a state of coma in the Northern Hemisphere, it is winter time, solar light and heat are at their lowest ebb; and the various appearances of motion, etc., are the Sun's passage from Capricorn to Pisces, 60 degrees, and from Pisces to Aries, 30 degrees, making 90 degrees, or one quadrant of the circle. Then in spring time the creative powers begin in real earnest. The six days are the six signs of the northern arc, beginning with the fiery force of Aries. Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo and Virgo; The seventh day and the seventh sign, being Libra, signifies autumn, whose first point is opposite Aries and is the opposite point of the sphere, the point of equilibrium, equal day and equal night. It is the sixth sign from Aries, the first creative action, and so the sixth day following the fiery force, wherein God created man and woman. "So God created man in His own image; in the image of God created He him, male and female created He them." Genesis, 1:5-27: On the seventh, or day of the Lord (man), the climax of material creation and Lord of all living things, and be rests in the blissful Garden of Eden. This seventh day and seventh sign is the concealed sacred Libra, the perfect union of the sexes.

Then comes winter, the fall from Libra, through Scorpio, and banishment from the Garden of Eden. which is the victory of Satan, or winter over summer.

Astrotheology v. The Holy Scriptures

The overall argument is whether: a) Astrotheology is accurate, as it represents the scientific laws of the universe, stars, solar system and the planet earth rotation creating day and night and the four season. That all characters and concepts in religious scriptures are based on these universal laws. b) The Holy Bible, The Torah, The Qur'an and other holy scriptures describe actual historical events and significant individuals who actually lived and were of a greater consciousness, or indeed either the Son of God. Apostles or prophets, passing on the Wisdom and Word of God.

There is much to study as to the representations offered by Astrotheology as opposed to The Holy Scriptures. The controversy continues unabated as each opposing theologies attempt to prove its own validity.
